- 五觀
- (五觀, 五观)
The five meditations referred to in the <Lotus Sutra> 25:(1) [lang id =1028]真 on the true, idem [lang id =1028]空觀, to meditate on the reality of the void or infinite, in order to be rid of illusion in views and thoughts;(2) [lang id =1028]清淨觀 on purity, to be rid of any remains of impurity connected with the temporal, idem [lang id =1028]假觀;(3) [lang id =1028]廣大智慧觀 on the wider and greater wisdom, idem [lang id =1028]中觀, by study of the 'middle' way;(4) [lang id =1028]悲觀 on pitifulness, or the pitiable condition of the living, and by the above three to meditate on their salvation;(5) [lang id =1028]慈觀 on mercy and the extension of the first three meditations to the carrying of joy to all the living.* * *一、 真觀, 即觀察真諦的道理以斷見思之惑的空觀; 二、 清淨觀, 即既已斷見思之惑, 再斷塵沙之惑的假觀; 三、 廣大智慧觀, 即斷了無明之惑之後, 而得廣大智慧的中觀; 四、 悲觀, 以上面三種觀觀眾生, 而願拔眾生之苦; 五、 慈觀, 即以上面三種觀觀眾生, 而願給眾生快樂。
